I have been involved with the Yoga Club since 2010, when I started my undergraduate degree at UBC! During my undergraduate degree, I found that yoga helped me manage and process stress and anxiety that I associated with school, work, and my personal life. It was this community at UBC that inspired me to pursue my teaching training in 2015. Yoga is a beautiful combination of exercise for the body and mind. Bringing mindfulness into my movements and breaths during a yoga class helps me to bring mindfulness and a deeper awareness into all aspects of my life, even off the mat. In my classes, I encourage mindfulness by having students focus on the breath, notice the alignment of their body in the pose, and experience how each pose feels in their unique body. I also try to include lots of options for yogis of different levels, make classes fun and interesting, and end with deep relaxation every time.
